Meet Dr. Hai Huang

Decades of heart-centered dentistry and mindful care.

Originally from China, Dr. Huang has been practicing dentistry since 1980 and has called Oakland, CA home since 1990. After working in several practices around Chinatown and Downtown Oakland, she founded Lake Merritt Dental in 2004 to offer care that’s personal, thoughtful, and rooted in long-term health.

For Dr. Huang, dentistry is more than a profession—it’s a way to give back. She’s known for her spirituality, deep listening, and gentle approach, and has built long-lasting relationships with patients who value integrity, education, and autonomy in their care.

Outside the Office

Dr. Huang is a pastor, published author, and dedicated community leader. During the pandemic, she started her own ministry, and she continues to travel on dental mission trips to provide care for underserved communities.

At home, she cherishes time with her children and grandchildren, often sharing stories, meals, and long walks around Lake Merritt.
